Exposing Recurring Weapon of Mass Distortion
This is a quick post on a recycled email that continues to pop up. It’s the same one I uncovered in my book. My book was first written in 2005. The information morons don’t quit.
LAS VEGAS, NV (May 1, 2009) – I thought the right-wing idiots had given up on blaming Al Gore for Osama bin Laden.
Take a look at this posting from FactCheck – one of the most trusted sources on the web — which gives you all the details. I also covered this in my book – four years ago:
A number of recurring E-mails infuriate me. Watch out for these at an inbox near you:
One I received a month after 9/11 claimed a terrorist had targeted Lt. Colonel Oliver North and his family for assassination while North worked covertly for the Reagan administration in the mid-1980s. The E-mail closed with a big flourish by identifying the terrorist as none other than Osama bin Laden. What infuriated me was that it was wrong. The terrorist he was talking about was Abu Nidal. In fact, at that time Osama was probably enjoying the armaments paid by United States taxpayers as he fought the Soviets in Afghanistan. Not knowing the writer of the original E-mail, I don’t know if he had a political agenda. But that E-mail is one example of disinformation delivered easily to us every day.
Even Ollie North debunks it.
